What is the Referral Process?
The Referral Process is designed to assist in the coordination of applications for specific tenure in a region such as the Clayoquot Sound Central Region. Applications range from mariculture and aquaculture tenures to lodge development, dry land sorts, booming grounds, foreshore leases, licenses for float homes, mining and mineral applications.
First Nations must be consulted on all referrals from the various provincial and federal government agencies. First Nations receive all of the referrals related to their particular traditional territory. First Nations councils have the right to deliberate the referral and make recommendations or comments on every referral.
The Clayoquot Sound Central Region Board also receives these referrals and endeavours to complete the referral process of all applications within a thirty day period. This gives the Central Region Board the ability to assist First Nations and Provincial community representatives in receiving information and deliberating on whether or not the application should be supported or returned for more information.
Once the referral has been supported, the CRB responds to the tenure holder on the outcome of the application process. |
