Clayoquot Sound Planning Process

The process established to plan the implementation of the Scientific Panel recommendations and other resource and land use planning initiatives agreed to by the Parties.

Hawiih

The hereditary chiefs of the Nuu-chah-nulth Central Region First Nations bands. The Hawiih have the responsibility to preserve and protect their traditional territories and waters for generations to follow.

Interim Measures Agreements

Agreements between the province and First Nations that support and facilitate the treaty process by building relationships and partnerships, building capacity, providing tangible benefits, resolving contentious issues, and balancing interests.

Interum Measures Agreement

Parties

The Parties are the signatories to the Interim Measures Extension Agreement. The Parties consist of the Province of British Columbia and the Hawiih of the Central Region First Nations (Tla-o-qui-aht, Ahousaht, Hesquiaht, Toquaht, and Ucluelet First Nations).

Scientific Panel
for Sustainable Forest Practices in Clayoquot Sound

The blue ribbon task force that forwarded recommendations to the Province regarding sustainable forest practices in Clayoquot Sound. The Province accepted the Panel's recommendations from Reports 3-5. To link to the Panel's reports.

Technical Planning Committee

The Committee currently charged with developing the watershed plans. The committee consists of provincial government technicians and First Nations representatives. Membership on the committee depends on the stage of the planning and the technical nature of that stage.
